Suitable Environment – The Mazzer Kony Coffee Grinder is the grinder for a high volume espresso shop. With its 63mm conical burr grinder, which spins between 420 and 500RPM, you not only get the advantage of the conical burrs, but slow speed as well. The Kony’s doser allows you to pull the same amount of coffee for every shot, with dosing amounts ranging from 5.5 to 9 grams, ensuring a consistent espresso time after time. It’s simple controls mean employees of various experience levels can operate it with ease. The Kony also features an attractive durable aluminum housing, allowing it to match almost any décor.
Operation – The Mazzer line keeps everything relatively simple. To warm up the Kony, turn the dial on the right side of the machine clockwise to I. In order to turn the machine on, turn the knob clockwise to “START”. Ground coffee will then automatically be dispensed into the doser and will automatically stop grinding once correct amount is dispensed. To use the doser hold your portafilter underneath the dispensing spout, and pull the lever on the right side of the doser once. For 2 portions of ground coffee, pull twice.
Using the Mazzer Kony Coffee Grinder is very simple, but it will take a bit of experience to find the optimal grind setting and dosing amount for your environment. To change the grind fineness setting, turn the grinding adjustment disk clockwise to decrease fineness and counterclockwise to increase fineness. Adjusting the amount of coffee dispensed by the doser works similarly. Remove the top of the ground coffee container and turn the knob clockwise to decrease the dose and counterclockwise to increase the dose.
Adjustable Doser – The Mazzer Kony Coffee Grinder features an adjustable doser that will dispense between 5.5 and 9 grams of coffee with the pull of a lever. This makes for simple and consistent operation, no matter who is using the machine.
Grind Settings – The Mazzer Kony’s conical steel burrs can be set for any grind you want. From fine espresso to drip to French press coffee. The stepless micrometrical adjustments are easy to change using the grinding adjustment disk right below the hopper.
Automatic Grinding Cycle – The Mazzer Kony Coffee Grinder has an automatic grinding cycle that will start the grinder every twelve doses and stop the grinder when it reaches the desired amount. This ensures that there is always a supply of freshly ground espresso waiting and available for your customers, even at the busiest of times.
Maintenance – Before performing any maintenance, the Mazzer Kony must be unplugged.
To remove coffee oils from the hopper, it should be washed by hand with non-abrasive detergent and warm water. Please note: Do not place the grinder itself in water, or use any kind of cleaning solution on the grinding burrs.
The grinding burrs can be cleaned by unscrewing the grind adjustment disk and removing the top burr. The burrs should be cleaned with a brush and a soft cloth. Monthly cleaning of the operating mechanism is recommended using Grindz grinder cleaner.
